PM Modi helped Vijay Mallya escape: Rahul Gandhi
Congress President Rahul Gandhi has now trained his guns straight at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for letting Vijay Mallya flee the country on March 2, 2016. He has accused a Gujarat-cadre officer in the Central Bureau of Investigation, allegedly close to the Prime Minister, for aiding the great escape.
On Saturday, Gandhi tweeted, “CBI Jr Director AK Sharma, weakened Mallya’s “Look Out” notice, allowing Mallya to escape. Sharma, a Gujarat-cadre officer, is the PM’s blue-eyed-boy in the CBI. The same officer was in charge of Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi’ escape plans. Ooop….investigation!”
Fugitive Vijay Mallya’s claim he met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in 2016 before he fled the country has opened a Pandora’s Box.
While the BJP has accused the Congress of facilitating loans for the erstwhile Kingfishers Airlines boss, that subsequently went bad, the Congress has questioned how Mallya fled overseas.
Several questions have been raised over the curious downgrading of the Look Out Circular (LoC) issued against Vijay Mallya by the CBI in 2015. The investigating agency first issued a LoC on October 16, 2015 ordering his detention, only to change it to ‘Inform’ only on November 24, 2015, the day Vijay Mallya landed back in Delhi from London after having been unavailble to the agency through this entire time.
With the BJP and the Congress pointing fingers at each other for aiding an economic offender, all eyes on our investigating agencies and their ongoing struggle to bring Mallya back to India to face the music.
