Apple Watch Alerted Emergency Services & Saved A Man’s Life After He Fell On His Bathroom Floor
A man took a serious tumble in the middle of the night and his life may have been saved thanks to the Apple Watch. Toralv stvang, a 67-year-old Norwegian man got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and fainted. The Apple Watch detected his fall and alerted emergency services.
The Apple Watch series 4 has been known to save lives in the past thanks to numerous features such as heart rate monitoring, the new ECG app that can detect heart diseases and now the fall detect feature has been credited. The fall detecting feature works when a user falls and is unresponsive for 1 minute. The smartwatch will then automatically alert emergency services so that the user can be rescued. The police found stvang bleeding on the bathroom floor with three fractures to his face.
His daughter gives credit to the Apple Watch for saving his life, telling NRK : “It could have gone so much worse. All morning we asked ‘What had happened if he hadn’t worn a smart watch?’ He didn’t bring his mobile phone in the bathroom. It’s amazing that he got so quick help from the alarm, until the police found him. It was a serious fall…”
